*The showcase has been cancelled due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns in our community.

The annual ÁñÁ«Ö±²¥ Multicultural Showcase is back a bit earlier this year, Saturday, March 28, promising a lively and colorful afternoon with traditions and food showcased from around the world. Doors open at 1 p.m., and the event will take place until 3:30 p.m. in the lower level of the DeWitt Student Center on campus.

This year’s performances include a Baile Pascuense (a traditional Rapa Nui dance on Easter Island), a Locking Dance, a rap song and a fashion show.

This festive event features a variety of performances, foods, a silent auction and an exhibit highlighting sports and games from around the globe. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit booths stationed throughout the bottom of the DeWitt Student Center and sample foods from 27 different countries including Spain, Russia, Morocco, Greece, Turkmenistan, Japan, Jamaica, Mexico, Mongolia and Turkey.

Admission to the event is free. Tickets for food samples cost $3 each or $10 for five tickets. Students with an NWC ID will receive five free food tickets.

The year’s Multicultural Showcase follows NWC’s first Paint the Campus Red event, which takes place Friday, March 27, from 4-7 p.m.

Area residents who wish to lend personal items to the Multicultural Showcase such as board games, jerseys, uniforms, sports figurines and sports gear to display during the event or donate to the silent auction are invited to do so by taking them to NWC Intercultural Program Manager Amanda Enriquez in Orendorff Building, Room 111, by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26.

All proceeds from the silent auction will go toward the NWC Student Travel Endowment to provide travel opportunities to a wider range of students.

For more information about this event, contact Enriquez at Amanda.Enriquez@nwc.edu or 307-754-6424.

The Multicultural Showcase is co-sponsored by the NWC Multicultural Club, Office of Intercultural Programs and Student Senate.
